I recently had the pleasure of seeing this film at the Alliance Française Atlanta during a movie night with my German teacher friend, Sarah. In the makeshift movie theatre (adult classroom with the chairs turned toward a projection screen), we giggled as the film started because we could relate to the students' facial expressions and characters' anxieties all too well. In this heart wrenching film about schools in the suburbs of Paris, and a teacher who is oblivious as to how unprepared he is to teach there, the cultural lens of how the French view their education system is hysterical. In comparison to our American system, the kids are the same (which is too funny). For example, they actually have a name for when kids suck their teeth. It's called "le tchip."
